Pay at the pump with ryd: It’s this easy
With ryd, you fill up quickly and pay right at the pump—no waiting in line at the cashier.
For your information: currently only example screens are shown here, but they will soon be displayed in your language.
Two ways, one goal
We partner with two types of stations: Pre-Pay and Post-Pay.
Pre-Pay: You pre-authorize a maximum amount before you start fueling. No worries, you will only pay for what you actually fueled.
Authorize → Fuel → Final amount is charged → Confirmation.
Post-Pay: No pre-authorization needed—you fuel as usual and pay afterwards.
Fuel → Confirm in app → Amount is charged → Confirmation.
Important for every fill-up
Keep the app open: Please keep the ryd app in the foreground for the entire process.
Wait for green: Only drive off when you see the green confirmation screen “Payment successful!” That way you’re always on the safe side.
Open the ryd app: When you arrive at a partner station, the app detects your location and automatically starts the payment flow after 3 seconds. You can cancel here or tap “Start now” to continue.
Follow the on-screen steps: The app recognizes your station and guides you through the correct payment process step by step.
Let's take a look at both ways
Pre Pay
Here, you first choose a maximum amount that will be reserved on your payment method. Don’t worry—you’ll only be charged for the fuel you actually pump. Just follow the steps in the ryd app.
Important: only lift the nozzle when the app tells you to.
Let’s go!
Step 1: Select your pump
Simply tap the number of the pump you are at and confirm your choice.
Step 2: Your maximum amount
Select the maximum amount you'd like to refuel for.
Tip: Check the box “Set as default” to save your choice as default for next time. You can always change this in your overview.
Step 3: Choose your fuel type
This step is required at some gas stations. Simply select your fuel type. You can also save this selection as a default for the future.
Step 4: Overview and authorize
Here is a final overview. Please check if:
- The gas station on the map is correct.
- The pump, maximum amount, and fuel type are right.
- Here you can also select the vehicle and payment method are selected.
If everything looks good, authorize the payment. This amount will only be pre-authorized as a hold, not charged!
Step 5: Connecting to the pump
After your max. amount is authorized, we are unlocking the pump for you. Please wait for the next screen and do not pick up the nozzle yet.
Step 6: Time to refuel!
Great, you're all set! You can now pick up the nozzle and refuel your vehicle. The pump will stop automatically just before the maximum amount is reached.
Step 7: Payment is being processed
We are receiving the final amount from the gas station, after you hung the nozzle back up and completing your payment. Please wait for our confirmation.
Payment successful! Safe travels!
That's it! This green screen is your confirmation, that the payment was successful. You can drive off now.
Your fueling summary
Under “Details,” you can immediately see a summary of your transaction. You will receive your receipt via email, and you can also find it anytime in your transaction history in the app.
Post Pay
Step 1: Select your pump
Simply tap the number of the pump you are at and confirm your choice.
Step 2: Time to refuel!
Great, you're all set! You can now pick up the nozzle and refuel as usual. Simply hang it back up when you're done to proceed with the payment.
Step 3: Your refueling summary
Here you can see what you've refueled: price, liters, and fuel type.
You can also:
- Add your mileage
- Change the vehicle
- Adjust your payment method
If everything looks good, simply confirm the payment.
Step 4: Payment is being processed
We are completing your payment. This will only take a moment. Please wait for the final confirmation in the ryd App.

That's it! This green screen is your confirmation, that the payment was successful. You can drive off now.
