A PayPal email is not a final payment confirmation
An email from PayPal is not a final payment confirmation. In most cases, it is only a notification about the authorization (reservation) of the amount. The payment can still fail afterwards.
Only the status shown in the ryd app is decisive.
Do not leave the station until you see “Payment successful” and the green checkmark in the app.
The difference between authorization and payment
When you pay with PayPal, you often receive an email notification from PayPal very quickly.
Important: This is usually only a confirmation of the authorization.
This simply means that PayPal was asked whether the amount is available. It does not mean that the transaction has been completed successfully. Even after a successful authorization, the actual payment process can still fail for technical reasons.
What should I pay attention to?
Never rely solely on the PayPal email.
Stay in the ryd app: Keep the app open during the fueling process.
Wait for the green checkmark: The only valid confirmation is the screen shown in the ryd app.
Check the confirmation: The process is only completed when you see “Payment successful” and a green checkmark in the app. Check your history in der ryd app, too.
Only then may you leave the gas station.
